KBC VR1 - A Look BackThe VR-1 was revolutionary in may ways. Will the VR-1X live up to its heritage? When the KBC VR1 motorcycle helmet was introduced it was soon obvious that KBC Helmets had a winner on their hands. The sexy "bump-out" or ridge around the back just made you look so to speak. I still have my old VR-1, mainly because I use an open face helmet since I moved to a touring bike and have a windshield. The VR-1 doesn't get as much wear as it used to but it's still there when I need extra protection from the cold. If you're still looking for a KBC VR-1 you are almost out of luck. I still see some X-Small and/or XX-Large hanging around the backwaters of 'Net and even then they're mostly solid colors. The good news is that KBC has introduced a very similar helmet named the VR-1X. The KBC VR-1X was built using the experience that KBC got from marketing the VR-1. It looks like they have another winner on their hands. The "X" uses the same shield as it's predecessor which is good because it's an excellent shield. I still have some blue metallic shields that I got from my vendor before I closed my offline store. I sell them on eBay, but I've had requests for them often so I've set up a KBC visor page here where you can purchase directly from me. Just for nostalgia, here's a gallery of the KBC VR-1 models from around 2004. Read user reviews of the newer KBC VR-1X . |
