I couldn't recommend this place enough the staff are the best. Big shout outs the instructors especially Tom, they are... definitely Pro teachers with tons of patience and the way they teach makes it easy for anyone to become a proficient rider. If you can't learn to ride and get licensed through them than motorcycling just isn't for you. I will definitely be returning for the more advanced classes after I've been riding for a while.read more

To sum up everything in one word, Awesome! Now for more details! I personally took the OTRA course in Nassau at Garden... City location.I was very impressed at how much is taught in 2 days, you literally go from not knowing how to make the bike move or having any knowledge about it all the way to having beginner super powers after learning everything from:-Mounting onto a bike-Clutch control while finding its friction zone-Using throttle-Shifting between 1st gear, neutral, and 2nd-Using both brakes-Turning the bike on/off by opening/closing fuel valve (if your bike has it), key, ignition, and using engine kill switch-And finally, using the horn and signaling on the bikeThe course goes over:-How to turn while keeping your head up and looking into the direction you want to go instead of looking down (very important skill to master)-How to speed up-Emergency swerve scenario-Emergency braking scenario/casual braking scenario-Circuits-Turns/U-turns-Going over small obstacles in the road like a wooden plank-Communicating with other riders-Turning/moving bike with feet (when not having the clutch engaged)-Lane changing (Not done in the street)-Leaning/counter leaning (but not like Moto GP style where knees are touching the ground)-Knowing which gear you’re in (even when bikes off)Not sure if I forgot anything else on this list but you’ll learn it during the course anyways! The first day I was nervous because I didn’t know anyone or how my riding skills were compared to anyone else (kinda like the first day of high school.) I started getting to know everyone and students were cool and just as nervous about their skills like me! In my group the age ranged from 19-60! I'm personally 32. We had one student who fell off the bike and the course instructors were very professional in handling that situation as well as the other students with what was instructed! Thankfully that student was okay from the light fall, got back up, and kept going after a bike check by the instructors and even ended up passing the course!! So don't feel discouraged or nervous, just have fun and keep going!I was fortunate to be taught by 3 instructors! First day I had Omar and Tom who were cool and knowledgeable in their own ways with unique personalities and sharing a common hobby (motorcycling). Omar is a good balance of chill and cool and Tom is easygoing. I loved Tom's story of how he started on a Kawasaki 500 when he was 19 and how he’s about 30 years into riding! Omar was funny saying congrats you guys popped your cherry’s for your first ride! 😂 Along with fist bumps when you nail something.Third day I had Omar and Pete (you’ll know Pete because he has a dope beard). Pete REALLY cares and wants to make sure you’re as prepared as possible for the real world and final evaluation! He was super cool to talk to after we finished the course and is very kind and knowledgeable and will let you know where you seem to struggle and what you can do to be better! All of them are honest and give their personal constructive criticism on what they notice and what to improve upon. They were all a perfect balance to make the course fun and knowledgeable overall! Also a big tip, if you are confused on ANYTHING, ask the question in your head! I can’t stress this enough that the instructors are very patient! There were multiple times after an explanation and demo we were covering for a specific section where I was still confused about the route to take or where to go and instructors said not to worry and they’ll guide you along your riding path for that specific training section. I asked a lot of questions and learned a lot! The instructors even told us on the first day “THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS!! Or at least until the hours of this course are over!” 😂Remember just because you finish this course doesn’t mean the learning stops there! At the end it’s up to you to keep improving and learning which is what the instructors stressed and one tip I agree with!Hope this review helped, good luck, and make sure to enjoy the process! 🤙-Markread more

There was 1 spot left for the Labor Day weekend class. It was an overall 3 minute speedy sign-up with no issue. When I... got there, there are about 5 cars in the parking lot across the street. The awkward walk to the “training” lot was weird at first but whatever. The instructors, Claudio and Kathy were extremely nice and helpful. Paperwork was signed and sorted away in a few minutes and we hopped on the motorcycles in the first 20 minutes of the class. They were SO knowledgeable. I remembered to ask a lot of questions and they were quick with great answers that made sense to me (never sat on a bike before.) I’m glad I hopped on the experience. Kudos to the team that OTRA put together. They’re doing something right!read more

The instructors at On The Road were fantastic. I had been learning with a buddy of mine for 1 week prior, highly... recommend going in with a baseline knowledge (but not at all necessary). Old or green, we all got comfortable at our own speeds. The class is smooth and does not waste time. Make sure to stay hydrated if going in the summer, you’re going to sweat (plenty of breaks). Really happy I went with OTRA School. Kat and Mike were so professional. Starting off with the basics and gradually... increased to give everyone the knowledge to ride safely and defensively. Several attendees never rode before, including my daughter and by the end of the class, I have to say, they looked like naturals on the bikes. I highly recommend the class for anyone who want to learn the right way, or just brush up on their riding skills.read more

I took the course over Father’s Day weekend with Gerry, Adam, Jerry and Kat. This was probably the most informational... course I’ve ever attended- and definitely the most fun. I’d recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn how to ride, who wants to improve, who is interested in getting their license, pretty much anyone really. Everything starts off slow so as you progress, you start to build muscle memory. I really can’t thank my instructors enough.read more

I had an awful experience at this riding school. My first issue with this place was scheduling. My group was scheduled... for Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM - 6 PM. However, there was a morning class that started around 6 or 7 AM, that was using the same bikes we were, and ran late both days, so we did not start riding until 1:30 on the first day and 1:45 on the second day! I have no idea how they could schedule so poorly, but a good chunk of our practice time was taken up literally by just standing there waiting for the first class to finish. So not only did we need to rush to finish the day out, but we finished late both days! On a freezing day, this was really not fun. By the time we actually got on the bikes, I was so freezing and tired from standing outside in cold weather just waiting, and it really interfered with my ability to practice well.I also do not like how this class mixes people of all different riding levels. I was a beginner and had never ridden a bike before, and there were several people in my group who had been riding for years, and were just taking this class to get their license and ride legally. So obviously with such a huge variation in skill level, there is no way a class like that can be productive for everyone. I did not get nearly enough practice doing basic stuff and felt very rushed along, partly because a lot of the others were so far ahead of me in skill level, and partly because we wasted two and a half hours just waiting for the other group to finish so we could mount the bikes. They had to cut a lot of our practice time, so we could finish the skills evaluation before it got dark out. The instructors did know what they were doing and had I been in a class with all beginners that moved slower and started on time, it probably would've been fine. But overall, this was a very negative experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Needless to say, I did not pass the skills evaluation and I was not even upset about it because I finished this course feeling nowhere near ready to ride safely on the street, and I do not fault myself for this, I fault the poor planning of this course.read more

This was surely a lifetime experience, I certainly discovered the importance of learning many valid points and advice... for riding, I must admit it wasn't easy but these coaches are absolutely top not h and unbelievably dedicated in teaching you and backing you on every aspect, they will support and help with absolute confidence and determination, I can't say enough about the coaches they are amazing and the nicest people you will ever meet. I recommend the class regardless of what you think you know, knowledge is key and will only help you gain more understanding and experience. I thank the coaches for pointing out my faults and helping me recognize them to better my self. I will eventually go for another class as they have many options for riders if all levels thank you again OTRA it's bin real and valuable!read more

I have never been on a motorcycle in my life but learned basic skill and safety with my instructors JP and Pete. It’s... okay to be nervous and ask a lot of questions, just remember to breathe and listen to your instructors advice.Even if you don’t want to own a motorcycle, taking this course is a great life experience and something I’ll never forget.Remember to be prepared with your own helmet, long sleeve shirt, gloves, and over ankle shoes/boots. Bring lots of water and quick snacks as you don’t get long breaks. Enjoy the experience, even the difficult moments. Believe in yourself and keep practicing! Good place to learn how to ride. I took this class with Kathy and Jim as my instructors and it was the best decision I ever made! I personally had next... to no personal riding experience going into the course and was amazed at not only how fast I was able to learn the information from Kathy and Jim, but also how quickly I felt comfortable maneuvering the bike. They did a great job at explaining the more complex/tricky concepts and maneuvers like counter-steering and “Press Right Go Right” that were difficult to understand from the eCourse you complete on your own prior to class. Kathy and Jim were very patient, positive, and honest with their instruction and their passion for riding, and more specifically SAFE and responsible riding, certainly showed throughout the entire course. I’m very happy with my experience and think it is worthwhile for those looking to get into riding as well as those looking for a refresher. The idea of riding can be intimidating, but I definitely feel so much more confident and competent after receiving their instruction.read more

OTRA is most definitely the place to come and learn how to ride a motorcycle. I took the Basic MSF course with Nick,... Tom, Pete and Eric. All instructors were extremely helpful when it came to learning the nuances of riding a motorcycle. The instructors (Kathy, Dean, Jerry) made the whole experience fun. They were polite and respecting during the whole time and I felt comfortable learning to ride.Tip: Two days of riding for a beginner, out under the sun, inhaling fumes, plus having to wake up early is really hard on the body. Excellent course! Both instructors Jerry and Kat were amazing. They were patient, kind (humorous at times) and they... were easy to understand and follow their instructions! We had riders at all different skill levels, and even the ones that never sat on a bike, were up and riding in no time. I was amazed how some of the riders that never rode a motorcycle before went from not knowing what a throttle is, to cruising around the parking lot later that same day. The next day was even more impressive, seeing these new riders 1 day later and they were riding with confidence and skill! I had "some" experience, but what I learned in this course has given me the tools for the rest of my riding days. I highly recommend the class no matter what your skill level. And if you're a beginner, don't be nervous, you are in great hands and they WILL get you riding a motorcycle safely!read more
